The E-Cigarette

The e-cigarette is the latest and most popular low-risk, effective substitute for smoking. It is a device that heats e-cigarette liquid, a nicotine solution that creates a vapor for inhaling. It is popular for those that want to stop smoking traditional tobacco cigarettes. One of the main reasons that e-cigarettes are so popular is that they are accepted where tobacco smoking is banned. Additionally, they have eliminated the threat to bystanders from secondhand smoke. The main substance in the e-cigarette liquid that makes it a good substitute for regular cigarette smoking is the nicotine. When nicotine is not smoked, it has a very low risk factor, similar to that of drinking coffee. So what makes the vaporizing process work?

It’s in the Liquid

The ingredients in the e-cigarette vapor liquid, sometimes called e-cigarette juice, are what make the vaporizing process work. The liquid is made up of at least four ingredients: the base, the nicotine, a food grade flavoring substance, and water. The magic is in the base. It is made up of propylene glycol (PG) or vegetable glycerin (VG). They are called the base because they are the non-toxic compound which hold the nicotine and flavor together so that the smoke-like vapor can be produced. Both ingredients are used as food additives in other food products. What then is the difference between the two?

The PG Base

The PG e-cigarette liquid is a thin, tasteless, odorless substance that is easily absorbed in the atomizers. It is the most common used of the two base ingredients. PG e-juice prevents the gunk build up in the atomizer and will produce the strongest throat hit. The throat hit is what makes vaporizing similar to tobacco smoking.

The VG Base

The VG e-cigarette liquid is a thicker solution with a sweet taste of its own. When mixed as an e-juice, it makes the flavor of the e-juice a little harder to detect. VG also causes a phlegm build up in the throat and produces a smaller or less strong throat hit, although it makes a lot more vapor than the PG solution, which also causes dry mouth.

E-cigarette juice solutions will usually combine both bases, giving the e-smoker more options to find their personal preference. Remember that PG gives a strong throat hit and more flavor while VG gives a lesser throat hit and more vapor. The optimum ratio for most mixtures is 70 VG and 30 PG. This provides a really nice throat hit and good flavor. It will also produce a lot of vapor. Browse our collection of premium e-juice at: Domain URL
