Air Conditioners for All Purposes

For those who live in warmer climates, few things are as important to them as their air conditioners. These wondrous machines come in many varieties, shapes and sizes and they are designed to meet a number of different cooling needs. If you need to cool off, chances are there is an air conditioner that’s perfect for you.
The simplest and cheapest air conditioner is the window unit. It is designed to sit in the window and pump cold air into the room while ejecting hot air outside. This is the exact same concept that the portable air conditioner uses; the major difference being that the portable unit does not sit in a window, so it needs to eject the hot air through a hose, which is theoretically run to a spot outside the home. A portable air conditioner is usually used for a room up to 500 square feet and it tends to be noisier than other units.

Ductless Air Conditioner
The ductless air conditioner, also called a split system, is used often in larger buildings like hotels and apartments. It works a lot like a more permanent version of a window unit, with half of it mounted inside the room to pump in cooled air and half outside the room to pump out the warm air. A pair of tubes connects the two halves of the unit. With a special high powered blower, this type of air conditioner can be used to cool a suite of rooms, but normally it is just a more powerful single room air conditioner with the added benefit of a thermostat to more precisely control the room temperature.

Central Air
Central air conditioning is the gold standard in comfort for hot weather. The condenser and coils are usually mounted outside of the building while the rest of the unit is usually attached to the existing heating system. These units are very quiet and use the same ductwork as the heating system to send cool air throughout an entire home or building. A thermostat control allows you to keep your entire home near the temperature you prefer.
