  • Do I need all the stuff that I have collected over the years?

  • If I dispose of the stuff I have not used for ages, will I miss it or not?

  • When was the last time I used this stuff?

  • Does the stuff that I rarely touch have value, either emotional or financial?

If the answer to these questions is a resounding no, then you can weed it out as you begin to organize your home for packing. In many cases these items can be converted into cash in a big garage sale and those things that are left, donate them or trash it.

If you are leaving a small, one bedroom home you may only need 500 cubic feet for everything. If on the other hand you are leaving a four bedroom home, your storage needs will come closer to 2000 cubic feet.
